Role of the DPO
The City’s Data Protection Officer supports lawful, secure, and accountable handling of personal data across local government services.
Develop and oversee policies for the lawful handling of personal information across city offices.
Help city systems and processes follow the Data Privacy Act and applicable National Privacy Commission guidance.
Receive and coordinate the appropriate response to suspected personal-data security incidents.
Serve as the primary city contact for privacy questions, concerns, and data-subject requests.

The Data Privacy Act recognizes rights that give people meaningful control over the personal information processed about them.
Know whether and why your personal data is being processed.
Request reasonable access to personal data processed about you.
Object to processing in circumstances recognized by law.
Dispute inaccurate information and request correction.
