Lavares - Labios

This house is the Lavares–Labios Ancestral House. It is located along the Tayabas–Sariaya Road in Brgy. Calumpang, City of Tayabas, and is owned by the couple Josefina Lavarez-Labios and Ideser Labios Sr., both music enthusiasts. The house was completed in July 1952 and is now cared for by their children: Daisy Labios, Ideser Labios Jr., Norberto Labios, and Eduardo Labios. According to Ms. Daisy Labios, the eldest child of Josefina Lavarez and Ideser Labios Sr., their home played an important role in earlier times. Like the Daelo–Nagar Ancestral House, it also became home to members of the Decemberian Club, a group of well-known residents of Kalumpang. It likewise served as a temporary shelter for residents of eastern Kalumpang whenever disasters such as typhoons struck. In addition, it became a center for community activities, hosting various trainings for the women of Kalumpang through the Rural Improvement Club (RIC), such as cooking and food preservation. It was also a common gathering place for Kalumpang residents during the Santacruzan, San Isidrohan, the Pasyon, and other important events in the eastern part of Barangay Kalumpang. Meanwhile, it served as a filming location for the 2008 movie “Lukaret,” directed by the late Felino Tañada and featuring Glydel Mercado, Ralph Darell Mateo, Maria Abulencia, Nick Pataunia, and Nick Pedro.
